Radio Call-In: Ballot Initiative #2 - Oct. 14
Supporters of Question #2 claim that a $100 million casino and four-season resort in Oxford County will create 800 good-paying jobs. Opponents argue that a casino is not consistent with the traditional Maine brand. MPBN's A.J. Higgins hosted Dennis Bailey, of CasinosNo! and Pat LaMarche, spokeswoman for the developers proposing the casino for a spirited debate.

Voters Aren't Warming To Either Beverage Tax Or Casino
Reported By: Josie Huang Date Aired: 10/22/2008
On November 4, voters statewide will face two referendum questions. Question 1 asks voters to overturn a tax on beverages intended to fund the state's Dirigo Health program. Question 2 asks voters to approve a casino in Oxford County. Two very different issues, and if a new survey of public opinion is any indication, one is headed for defeat, while the other is going to win.

Allen Defends Voting Record
Reported By: Susan Sharon Date Aired: 10/28/2008
Under attack by his opponent for his attendance record in Congress, Democratic Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Tom Allen held an unusual news conference at his home with his ailing wife and his daughter today. Although Allen attempted to point out that he has taken thousands of votes in Congress and only missed several dozen during his career, there were also more questions raised about his missed votes by the Collins campaign.

Congressman Michaud Sketches Economic Development Needs
Reported By: Anne Ravana Date Aired: 10/29/2008
As one of the few, if not the only, card-carrying union members in U.S. Congress, incumbent Democrat Mike Michaud believes he knows the economic development needs of Maine's second congressional district better than his Republican opponent. The Medway native says he wants to continue his work in Washington on the Northern Border Regional Commission and the Committee on Veterans' Affairs.

Hear and Compare the Candidates' Positions on Health Care
Voters have identified health care as a leading domestic issue for the government to address and for the presidential candidates to discuss in the 2008 campaign. In particular, voters would like to hear the candidates' positions on reducing the cost of health care and health insurance and expanding coverage to the 47 million uninsured Americans.
In late 2007, the Kaiser Family Foundation created a helpful web site (http://www.health08.org) for voters who want to know the candidates' respective positions on health care. With archived video and podcasts of the candidates discussing their positions, customizable side-by-side comparisons of the candidates, and an ongoing tracking poll.
